What to expect
Following a thorough clinical assessment covering your migraine history, frequency, triggers and previous treatments, our nurse prescriber discusses appropriate prescription treatment options. Treatment is administered in-clinic and reviewed at follow-up appointments.
Suitability
Suitable for adults with chronic migraine (15 or more headache days per month). A thorough clinical assessment is required before treatment.
Aftercare
- Avoid lying flat for 4 hours post-treatment
- Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours

Contraindications
Not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with neuromuscular disorders, or known botulinum toxin allergy. Full clinical history required.

How does the treatment work?
Botulinum toxin is administered to specific muscle groups associated with migraine. It is a licensed treatment for chronic migraine and requires prescription by a qualified prescriber.
How many sessions are needed?
Initial assessment and treatment, followed by a review at 12 weeks. Ongoing treatment is typically every 12 weeks if effective.
Is it available without a GP referral?
Yes. Our nurse prescriber can assess and prescribe directly. We will always communicate with your GP as appropriate.
