What to expect

A brief consultation covers your concerns and skin history. Each mole or lesion is assessed using a dermoscope, a specialist device providing magnified examination of skin lesions. We advise on each lesion and arrange prompt onward referral where there is clinical concern.

Suitability

Suitable for adults with moles or skin lesions they wish to have assessed. Advise us of your skin history and any personal or family history of skin cancer.

Contraindications

No contraindications to the screening itself. We do not treat lesions suspected of malignancy in-clinic, onward referral is arranged.

Frequently asked questions

What is dermoscopy?

Dermoscopy uses a hand-held magnifying device with polarised light to examine skin lesions in detail, beyond what is visible to the naked eye.

When should I have a mole checked?

If a mole has changed in size, shape or colour, started bleeding, is itching persistently, or is new and unusual in appearance, seek assessment promptly.

What happens if you find something concerning?

We will advise you clearly and arrange onward referral to a dermatologist or your GP as appropriate. We do not treat suspicious lesions in-clinic.
